Nintendo has confirmed that it will be hosting a Nintendo Direct this week. It'll air on Thursday, March 27 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET.
Nintendo clarified that it'll last around 30 minutes and will focus on upcoming games for the original Switch. It'll also contain no updates about Nintendo Switch 2, as the upcoming system will be the focus of the Direct airing on April 2. In addition to showing off a bunch of new games including a brief glimpse at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Nintendo also shared some new features coming to the Switch. Coming in an April system update, Nintendo is introducing a new game management system called “virtual game cards.” Virtual game cards are meant to function similarly to physical ones. When the feature goes live, purchases of digital games on the Nintendo eShop will automatically create a virtual game card that you’ll be able to manage from a dedicated screen. Tomodachi Life returns. It’s been quite a while since there was a new entry in Nintendo’s weirdo life sim series, but it’s coming to the Switch with Living the Dream — though it doesn’t launch until 2026. Make sure to watch the trailer all the way to the end. Get into the groove.Rhythm Heaven Groove is filled with a bunch of silly-looking mini-games, where you’ll have to catch ingredients, crush cans, and flap your wings while keeping in time with the rhythm. It’s coming to the Switch in 2026, marking the first new Rhythm Heaven game since 2015. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still alive — and it’s looking good. Nintendo unveiled a new trailer for the game that serves as an introduction of sorts, showcasing the alien world you’ll be exploring along with Samus’ various abilities, including new psychic powers that work both in combat and in puzzle solving. While no specific release date was announced, the game is due out in 2025 for the Switch. Pokemon Legends Z-A out late 2025
